The 2PO-series protocol droid is a fictional model of robot introduced into the Star Wars franchise in the MMO 'Star Wars: Galaxies' as part of it's Starter Kit in the year 2005. The droids are visually identically to the 3PO-series and established as a predecessor. [1]
