The android replicant of George Washington introduced James T. Kirk to the android replicant of Anton York.
Anton York is a fictional character introduced in Golden Key Comic's 1971 "The Legacy of Lazarus" where in a historian (the fictional Alexander Lazarus) created android replicas of historical figures and settled them on the planet Gamma Alpha V. In the Golden Key Comics Star Trek continuity Anton York was the 45th President of the United States. Other than this, little is stated of Anton York. Illustration for the comic he appears in was done by the artist Alberto Giolitti.
Speculation[]
As the comic was written during the presidency of Richard Nixon one can assume that at the earliest Anton York would have been elected in the year 2000 (one full term for his eight predecessors) following the fictional Eugenics Wars of the late 1990s in Golden Key's Star Trek continuity. The latest he could have been elected would be the year 2032, which would require each of his predecessors to have served two full terms in the office of President.
Notes on the Illustration[]
According to The Enterprise Logs, Volume 1 which is a collection of Golden Key Comics with insight into the production of them, Alberto Giolitti kept a room full of props and would take hundreds of pictures as reference for any pose in the story he was illustrating. Often his friends and even himself would pose for these photographs which where then used as reference when illustrating the comics. He was residing in Rome, Italy at the time of illustrating this work and it's not been recorded, to our knowledge, who served as the posing model for Anton York in this frame.
Trivia[]
- Despite a forty-six year separation between publication of the illustration of Anton York in 1971 and inauguration of the actual forty-fifth president of the United States, Donald Trump of New York, in 2017 the fictional character greatly resembles him.
