Bumblyburg is a metafictional city featured in the VeggieTales stories that involve the superhero Larry Boy. Larry Boy being the creation of Larry the Cucumber in VeggieTales.
Fictional History[]
Founding of Bumblyburg[]
Bumblyburg was established 300 years ago by Obediah Bumbly and those who took passage aboard the Califlower to settle the New World. Bumblyburg was established in the wilderness near to the shore and the community set about doing labor necessary for the young community to prosper. Despite the necessity of such, one citizen of the community named Ephraim Apply had started an establishment for recreation. While not ill unto itself the distraction of his establishment threatened the essential planting and harvesting enough for Obediah Bumbly to intervene. After a public dispute with Ephraim Obediah gained the community's support in abolishing the establishment and promptly cast Ephraim and his family out of the community. Ephraim Apply is remembered in Bumblyburg as having prioritized his own influence in the community over the community's' wellbeing or as official history records- for trying to take control of the settlement using the draw of entertainment despite what a lack of work could mean. The Fib from Outer Space[]
Many centuries following the city's founding it became the location of which a creature, known as a Fib, arrived from outerspace. The creature found a youth, Junior, and through the lies told by Junior grew in size. The Fib while initially of little threat had grown large enough that it could devour the city and its citizens. While Larryboy, the city's resident superhero, dove in to confront the massive horror he was no match for the Fib. While it seemed it would be the end for Larryboy, Junior telling the truth to all his lies caused the fib to shrink down into nothing thus saving the city. [2] Another Fib arrived in the city shortly after, but due to the lessons learned by Bumblyburg through its ordeal with the first failed to become a massive threat.
Rumor Weed[]
The Rumor Weed was the second giant creature to threaten the city, though it's origins where more terrestrial. Larryboy had intended to kill the weed utilizing an advanced herbicidal formula but the mechanism for dispersing it malfunctioned rendering Larryboy captured by the Rumor Weed. As with the Fib the Rumor Weed spread through Junior and the truth ended the threat. The Rumor Weed had caused extensive damage to the city though its massive roots and clinging vines. Bumblyburg had to undergo extensive revisions following this, and ultimately became a brighter cleaner looking community than it had previously been.
Bad Apple[]
Having long been denied residence in Bumblyburg a descendent of Ephraim Apply, one Temptation Apply, attempted to take over the city as revenge for a long nursed desire for revenge for what the Apply family had to go through due to Ephraim and his lineage being exiled from Bumblyburg. Larryboy had made a comeback after taking a long break from hero work following the Rumor Weed encounter- the second time he faced and failed to overtake a giant creature that threatened the city. Temptation Apply used Larryboy's desire for chocolate along with Mayor Blueberry's vanity to weaken the city for take over- using methods she was inspired to based on the legend of her Great Uncle Ephraim Apply. She was defeated by Larryboy and the townsfolk much as Ephraim was defeated by Obediah and the community of old.
