This is a category for all articles pertaining to the Star Trek media franchise as depicted in published material between and during the years 1980 and 1989. The franchise saw the release of four feature length films during this decade starting in the year 1982 (Star Trek II, Star Trek III, Star Trek IV, and Star Trek V). Two (Star Trek III and Star Trek IV) would be directed by Leonard Nimoy who portrayed Spock in the original 1960s live action series that started the franchise while another (Star Trek V) would be directed by William Shatner who portrayed Captain Kirk. The franchise would return to television through Star Trek: The Next Generation which aired it's first episode on the 28th of September in the year 1987 between the release of Star Trek IV and Star Trek V.
