The year 1994 is the middle of Star Wars' pre-reboot era with the original film having been released in the year 1977 and the soft reboot initiated in the year 2014. In film the 1990s saw the release of Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace in 1999 as the first of three prequel films to the original trilogy. In the sphere of table top roleplaying games West End Games would continue to hold license for such until July of 1998 when it filed for bankruptcy leaving the license for such a game in limbo until such licensing was acquired by Wizards of the Coast.
