This is a category for all articles pertaining to the Star Wars franchise as depicted in published works between and during the years 2010 and 2019. The 2010s was a decade of transition for the franchise with the primary license being acquired by the Walt Disney Corporation in 2013. April 25, 2014 was the day a press release was published on StarWars.com stating that the old Expanded Universe would no longer be considered canon in the franchise. The old Expanded Universe was dubbed 'Legends' from which the franchise could draw characters, species, cultures, etc to use in the new canon established by the license holder without having to behold to what was established in the works that introduced the elements to the franchise in previous years. This soft reboot of the franchise set the core of it's new canon as the prequel trilogy and original film trilogy.
In the sphere of Comic Books Dark Horse lost its licensing rights to Star Wars Comics in 2014, and such installments entered limbo until IDW got the rights to such in the year 2017. Dark Horse prior to loosing the rights to Star Wars Comics had published the last installment in the old Expanded Universe continuity; 'Star Wars: Legacy - The Very Last Stand!' on the 24th of August in the year 2015.
In film the franchise saw the release of episodes VII in 2015, VIII in 2017, and IX in 2019 under the Disney license along with Rogue One and Solo. Each of which was produced chiefly by Kathleen Kennedy who was appointed President of Lucas Films by George Lucas while the license was being transferred to the Walt Disney Corporation.
