Growing up creepie creepie meets tarantula boy title card

Creepie Meets Tarantula Boy is the second segment of the first episode of the animated TV show 'Growing Up Creepie'. The first segment is The Tell Tale Poem with both airing on the ninth day of September in the year 2006. In this short subject Creepie becomes infatuated with carnival side show performer Tarantula Boy.

Plot[]

The film opens with Creepie and her friend at a carnival. Her friend, an excited preppy gal lays out what they should do before seeing a Balloon and Darts stand. Creepie also finds the stand fascinating as her friend notices a large stuffed pink rabbit she wants. Creepie's brothers, Matt the gnat and a Cockroach crawl up the back of her shirt and seeing all the food around leave to partake in what's fallen on the ground. Creepie's friend pays to throw some darts in a bid to get the rabbit and then more darts until she spends all of her on hand cash. The friend screams not at the lose of on hand cash, but having not won the rabbit and the outburst is noted as freakish by Creepie who spies a Freaky Show advertised.

Before her friend can resort to the use of a credit/debit card to continue Creepie pulls her over to the Freaky Show. The host of the show mentioned that they have the one and only Tarantula Boy; half goliath bird eating spider and half boy! Creepie is eager to see him while her friend thinks it's gross and suggests they try one of the rides- like the Ferris Wheel. Taking a seat the two begin to watch as the friend is obviously uncomfortable in the tent's dim setting. Creepie though is just annoyed that the host calls Tarantula Boy a mistake of mother nature. When Tarantula Boy shows up everyone except Creepie and her friend flee. Creepie is simply enthralled with the boy's presence while her friend faints. Creepie compliments Tarantula Boy on his fangs which causes him to break from the act- no use keeping it up since everyone's fled. Creepie introduces her friend as Chris (Christy) Alice as her friend passes out again.

While Matt and Creepie's other brother continue to enjoy the foods Creepie and Tarantula Boy tend to Chris Alice. Tarantula Boy apologizes to Creepie for having scared Chris Alice so much. He comments on how Creepie doesn't seem scared at all and she asks why she should be, and states that his venom is non-toxic to Humans. She asks him some biology questions and the fact that she already knows so much about him makes him feel comfortable around her- as if they already know each other. Tarantula Boy's boss informs him that the next show is in five minutes and his friends need to be out of the tent by then or buy a ticket. Tarantula Boy mentions that the last show is in two hours and Creepie agrees to meet him after the show. Chris Alice wakes up only to faint again.

On her feet and with Creepie walking the circus grounds Chris Alice talks about how unsettling Tarantula Boy is to which Creepie tells her that she thinks he's nice. Chris Alice can't understand how Creepie can feel so at ease around him but since Creepie has a 'date' with him, and she's Creepie's friend, she'll support her by helping to choose an outfit. None of them suit Creepie who simply goes in her own look though Creepie's smile about that does creep her friend out just a little.

Creepie meets with Tarantula Boy after his last show and is presented with some free tickets he got her for the outing. They go on a roller coast and other attractions until Creepie notices Chris Alice back at the Balloon Darts game. Tarantula Boy uses his many arms to toss multiple darts at once and manages to win the rabbit for Chris Alice who is finally comfortable enough to give him a high five after having watched the date from afar.

Tarantula Boy, back at the carnival trailers tells Creepie that she can have as many caramel apples as she wants, because his mother makes them. Creepie smiles with surprised delight, hoping to meeting Tarantula Boy's family. Tarantula Boy goes into the trailer to change into something more comfortable now that the carnival is coming to a close and Creepie meets up with Chris Alice who has continued to observe. When asked how the date's going Creepie tells her it's going great. Her opinion on the date changes when Tarantula Boy comes back looking surprisingly normal with out multiple arms, fangs, nor projectile hairs. He explains that his real name is Skipper and he just wears the costume for the act. He can tell that Creepie's disappointed but gives her a custom caramel apple with her name on it. Creepie feeling her hopes for finding someone who could relate to her dashed leaves in a hurry while Skipper is left feeling like his true self isn't enough.

Returning to the trailer Skipper's out of view mother asks how the date went. He tells her that it was getting late so Creepie went home. She asks if he gave her the apple and he confirms such. He then asks her if he's weird, to which she- a massive tarantula- tells him that he's normal, and shouldn't let anyone tell him different.

Creepie and Chris Alice make their way through the carnival gate with Chris Alice happily telling Creepie how much she likes Tarantula Boy, how he's really nice when you get to know him. Creepies is still disappointed that he (apparently) wasn't the Human-Arachnid hybrid she thought and with a sigh tells her friend that she guesses Chris Alice is right. Chris Alice tries to encourage Creepie by telling her not to judge a book by it's cover.

Bug Bites[]

The segment ends as all segments do with Creepie giving a little bug fact. She focuses on the fangs of a tarantula in this one stating that they don't chew prey with their fangs, they inject digestive juices into their victims that soften the inner tissue allowing them to suck out the insides.

Production[]

The episode was written by the husband and wife writing duo of Dennys McCoy and Pamela Hickey.
