Dr. Petrov, in a bid for advancement in the company (TransGlobal), got approval to conduct a medical trial. Xylotal, a radiation resistance medication the company requires it's miners to take, has a rate in which miners become resistant to it. Dr. Petrov convinced corporate that it may be possible to decrease this rate and increase resistance by using four times the dose to be taken in periods further apart from the standard used with one recomended dose. Marshall Murdock made it very clear that he was going to make sure charges where pressed or at the least that people would be made aware of what happened. To this Dr. Petrov let Murdock know that he hopes he does, indicating that he really had wanted to stop the trials. Unknown to Dr. Petrov and Marhsall Murdock individuals in corporate, aware of the doctor's feelings on the matter and not wanting word of what had happend to reach the public had hired hitmen to acquire the Doctor's physical files on the trial and terminate him. He was gunned down in his office the same day the Marshall was made aware of the trials.
