The Freestar Collective is a fictional interstellar government in Bethesda's video game Starfield. It like the United Colonies consists of four star systems. Those being Cheyenne, Narion, Valo, and Volii.
Fictional History[]
Establishment[]
The Freestar Collective was established as an interstellar confederation between the Cheyenne star system and the Voli system, governed by the governments of the planet Akira and Voli III respectively. This confederation came about in the year 2189, one year after Solomon Coe, founder of Akira City, proposed such a union to the governor of Neon.
Narion War[]
Treaty of Narion[]
Colony Wars[]
Post Armistice[]
In 2231 the Council of Governors established the Freestar Rangers as an elite protective and investigative force for the citizens of the Freestar Collective. It operates under the authority of the Council of Governors, and outside of cases assigned to them by Council members, they have wide latitude in deciding what matters to investigate and how they conduct patrols. [1][2]
Government[]
The Freestar Collective is organized as a confederation with the Council of Governors as it's executive body instead of a single person in comparison to the United Colonies which invests executive power in it's President. The Council of Governors represent the four star systems under Freestar Collective authority; Cheyenne, Narion, Valo, and Volii. The capital system of Cheyenne has two representatives- Elias Cartwright and Reisha Lance who both reside in Akila city. The other star systems have a single representative on the council. Those being Benjamin Bayu of Volii, Lara Darvish of Narion, and Ron Hope of Valo. It is not stated if this disproportional representation is based on population (with Cheyenne being the most settled of the four systems) or if the governing articles of the confederation stipulate two for Cheyenne and one for every other member. Given as confederacy was established by two star systems it is most likely representation is based on population and at the time of its founding both Cheyenne and Volii had a single representative on the Council of Governors.
Economy[]
Most economic power in Freestar Collective space revolves around the city of Neon on the planet Volii Alpha in the Volii star system, one of the two founding members of the confederation. The Cheyenne system ranks second in economic power with most of that deriving from the export of foodstuff, the production of Laredo brand firearms, and the Trident Luxury Lines corporation. The Valo system lays in third with it's largest presence on the market being Hopetech starships and Light Scythe produced ship mounted weaponry. The Narion Star System ranks lowest of the four star systems in economic presence, known mostly for The Clinic starstation and various mining operations within the system but no major settlement since the planet Niira was rendered uninhabitable during the Narion War.
Currency[]
The Freestar Collective utilizes the same digital currency as the United Colonies; Credits of which the self funded, self regulating, and self protected GalBank [3]corporation headquartered in New Atlantis issues.

- ↑ Akila City Information Kiosk > Freestar Rangers: "Just as the Freestar Collective stands as a symbol of freedom for the Settled Systems, so too do the Freestar Rangers serve as a symbol of freedom for the Freestar Collective itself. Founded in the year 2231, the Rangers are the protectors of the people and ideals of the Freestar Collective. It's not enough to call them police, and too much to consider them soldiers. Rather, the Rangers are guardians - YOUR guardians - and they've dedicated their lives to the service of the Freestar Collective. But don't take our word for it. The Rangers welcome all inside the Rock, which serves not only as their headquarters, but as Akila City's primary meeting place and watering hole. There you can meet the members of this elite organization, and learn firsthand how committed this small, dedicated force is to the ideals first shared by Solomon Coe himself."
