Game Boy Player is an accessory for the Nintendo Gamecube. It is a mini-console that is connected under the bottom of the Gamecube. It was released in 2002. It plays Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games.

About it[]

In 2002, when the Gamecube was successful, Nintendo thought if they should remake the Super Game Boy on the Gamecube. Nintendo released the Game Boy Player two months later. It was successful and became bundled with the Gamecube in 2003.

  • It sold 3 million units (it was obvious as it came bundled with the Gamecube in 2003).
  • It was discontinued in 2008 along with the Gamecube.
  • It is similar to the Nintendo 64DD but the 64DD played it's own games.
  • The console was released as a sequel to the Super Game Boy.
  • The console is the only Gamecube accessory which is not compatible with the Wii.
