Plot[]
Summary[]
Duck Dodgers is given an assignment by Dr. I.Q. Hi to delay the approach of the Invictus, a Martian Super Weapon capable of destroying the Earth. The plan being for Earth's Armada to form up under Star Johnson's command and take down the weapon. Dodgers however isn't keen on that and decides to destroy the weapon himself. The Invictus, a giant vessel with enough firepower to destroy a planet is located and Dodgers with the Eager Young Space cadet as the auto-guidance navigator initiate a single fighter assault on the vessel's exhaust port due to details from secret plans Dodgers located in the waste basket aboard the SS Malard. This assault is halted by the Martian Commander X-2 and the two would be heroes briefly made hostage before escaping. Dodgers cleverly sabotages the vessel's cosmic rudder after it's location is pointed out by the Cadet and triggers the self destruct aboard the Invictus around the time Earth's Armada arrives. Before the Armada can destroy the ship the self destruct does as the Martian Commander escapes aboard the super weapon's only life pod (as with most Martian vessels the Invictus was highly automated). Star Johnson tells his crew to write about how he won the day despite no shot having been fired by the Armada and takes credit for Dodger's achievement. As ghosts Dodgers and Cadet look upon the ceremony on Earth celebrating Johnson's falsehood with disdain.

Continuity[]
The 2003 Duck Dodgers animated series is both episodic and metafictional. It's written not as events in Warner Bros. Looney Tunes setting but as a TV show in which Daffy Duck portrays the protagonist. Due to this while it's in reality the fifteenth episode of the series it's the fourth episode of the series to have aired in the fictional world of Looney Tunes, as reflected on the episode's title card.
In the real world it's followed by the episode "Pet Peeved" and proceeded by the episode "Pig Planet". In the fictional world of Looney Tunes the episode the audience sees that proceeded it was "The Queen is Wild" (2) and the one that followed was "The Love of a Father'" (3.17).
