James T. Kirk
Star Trek: The Original Series[]
James T. Kirk was born on March 22, 2233 to George and Winona Kirk in Iowa state, USA; Earth. [1] At 13 years of age he was living with his parents on the planet Tarsus IV. He was present during a time of mass famine and starvation when Governor Kodos, having some eugenic sympathies and unaware of relief ships incoming began to exterminate a portion of the population so what food was available could feed those deemed fit. Kirk was one of nine eyewitnesses to the actual massacre. [2] By 2250 Kirk had enrolled in Star Fleet Academy where he met Gary Mitchell [1] who would become a dear friend. He'd also meet Finnegann, an upper class Irishman who would bully Kirk for his 'plebeian' heritage. [3] As a cadet Kirk would participate in a Peace Mission to the planet Axanar where he'd be awarded the Palm Leaf of Axanar Peace Mission. [4] In 2255 Kirk was an ensign fresh out of the academy assigned to the phaser station aboard USS Farragut when it encountered a strange red gaseous creature that killed Captain Garrovick on Tycho IV. Kirk blamed himself for the captain's death as he had delayed firing upon facing the unknown. His commanding officer disagreed with this blame. - During Star Trek Season 1 Episode 3 "Where No Man Has Gone Before" Kirk's middle name begins with an R. His middle name is stated to be Tiberius in latter episodes making this the earliest element of his character to be retconned.

James T. Kirk was born aboard the USS Kelvin during an attack by a Romulan mining vessel from the future. He lost his father during that attack and his mother remarried an Iowa man back on Earth. As a youth Kirk would take his stepfather's car for a bit of a joy ride without permission nor licence and such would be the first of his renegade actions. As a young adult on Earth Kirk would attend Star Fleet Academy, and hacking the final test for captaincy complete it successfully when it was not meant to be. Intent on being with the best, and despite being assigned to the USS Farragut after graduation- James would be aided by Bones in sneaking aboard the USS Enterprise under Captain Pike.
