Template:InfoboxKim Il-sung was born Kim Sŏng-ju in Mangyŏngdae, Heian-nandō on April 15, 1912 and died in Pyongyang on July 8, 1994. He was the supreme leader of North Korea from December 28, 1972 till July 8, 1994. During his governance he held the title of President. On September 5, 1998 (four years after his death) he was proclaimed Eternal President of North Korea. Kim Il-sung was succeeded by his eldest son Kim Jong-il (1941 – 2011).
