Krabs à La Mode is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season five

. In this episode, Mr. Krabs turns the Krusty Krab into an ice rink after Plankton turns down the heat.

Plot[]

On a freezing winter day in Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob and Squidward are at work, and Squidward notices Krabs has the thermostat set to 62°. Squidward, feeling cold, decides to raise it to 63°. Mr. Krabs bursts out of his office and complains about spending the money on heating and changes it back to 62° and then Squidward made rude comments. Plankton is spying on the restauraunt and decides that night that he was going to change the thermostat and freeze the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs says that it is still on 62°; it was actually -15°. The customers started to leave because of this. When they came back, they were bundled in coats and then Plankton felt shocked. SpongeBob, meanwhile, was serving food on ice skates made from frozen patties. Soon, the customers began to strap patties to their feet and skated across the ice covered floor. Plankton goes in and attempts to steal a patty but gets pummeled by an ice machine. Then, as he tries to escape, some hockey players that were there to practice were blocking the exit. Plankton then remembers the thermostat and unfroze and froze the customers, but Krabs stops him and sets the thermostat at 100 degrees. The Krusty Krab is turned into a popular public pool the following summer. Mr. Krabs then thanks Plankton for his "good ideas."

Plankton gets frozen in ice by Mr. Krabs.

Destruction and Abuse[]

Plankton flies off the Krusty Krab as the ice hockey players clash to get the patty and makes a hole on the roof, then falls down.
The clamboni malfunctions because of Plankton trying to escape.
The thermostat is frozen in ice.

The Krusty Krab has turned into a ice rink for ice hockey players.
The Krusty Krab is now turned into a swimming pool for customers.

Trivia[]

The episode's title is French for "Krabs with Ice Cream". Also, the title is a pun on the food, pie a' la mode, which is French for pie with ice cream.
11th episode where Squidward's rear end is noticable.
Plankton sarcastically refers to Karen as "the wind beneath my wings". This is a reference to the 1989 Bette Midler song of the same name.
After coming out of the bathroom, Old Man Jenkins says he is "Locked in again" which implies that he may have gotten locked in the Krusty Krab before.
Mr. Krabs appears to have chest hair, like in Pranks a Lot.
This is the second time Plankton was spying in the Krusty Krab on a tray that Old Man Jenkins was taking to a seat. The first was The Algae's Always Greener.
The first time Plankton talks, the captions say "[Male Voice]". They also call Karen "[Female Voice]".
Some DVRs (like Comcast) say this episode aired in the year 2000 instead of its real date (2007).
This is the second time that there is a pool opened up at the Krusty Krab. The first time was in The Endless Summer.
This is the first time the Bikini Bottom Hockey Team appears. They do not appear again until Chum Bucket Supreme.
It is implied that one of the hockey players is Canadian because he ends his sentences with "eh".
This episode is one of the reasons why Mr. Krabs is a hated character on the show, according to a TV forum. This is because Mr. Krabs was selfish with the thermostat, not caring to change it under any circumstances even though there were ICICLES hanging from the roof of the restaurant. He apparently did not notice that the thermostat really was not 62 degrees and that the false temperature was written on a piece of paper taped to the thermostat.
There are two Jimmy-Guses, one was scared from Plankton but he was in his winter clothes going to the Krusty Krab.
When Squidward says "Thanks a lot" against SpongeBob because he gets into trouble with Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob happily replies, "You're welcome," it is similar to "New Student Starfish" where SpongeBob, who gets into trouble with Ms. Puff, does the same thing against Patrick.
When Plankton is freezing and unfreezing people, the water is waist high. But when he falls off and Mr. Krabs freezes him, the water is only an inch high.
When Nat is shown entering the Krusty Krab he and the 2 other customers are smaller than SpongeBob, Squidward, Mr. Krabs and the two other customers.
It seems that the thermostat also affects areas outside the Krusty Krab.
Clamboni is a parody of zamboni.
