Lt. M'Ress is a Caitian communications officer aboard the USS Enterprise working in rotation with Lt. Uhura. She was introduced in Star Trek: The Animated Series where she was voiced by Majel Barrett-Roddenberry.

Biography[]

Background[]

Lt. M'Ress was born in a litter of four on the planet Cait in the Lynx constellation. [1] She grew up in a well to do family with great renown before enrolling in Star Fleet. It was at the academy that she acquired a well rooted interest in topics regarding Earth such as anthropology and mythology. She graduated three years before serving on the Enterprise. She would serve on the USS Hood as it's main communication's officer until the vessel was damaged by Daystrum's Multitronic Computer. She was transferred to the USS Enterprise following this incident.

Star Trek: The Animated Series[]

text (Mudd's Love Potion, etc)

Star Trek Log books by Alan Dean Foster[]

This series adapted by Alan Dean Foster from episodes of TAS expands upon and novelizes many of the plots from TAS. Among the characters to have received a greater inclusion is M'Ress.

Family[]

  • Mother: M'Mar

Star Trek (Golden Key Comics)[]

Goldenkey comics M'Ress

M'Ress while written with the statement of being of feline ancestry was depicted more as an Orion in her one Golden Key Comics appearance.

M'Ress was written into a single Golden Key Comic strip where she was given a minor role in soothing a feline creature. Due to a lack of communication between the writers and artists for this strip (with the writers assuming the artist would be aware of M'Ress from the animated series) M'Ress was depicted as a blue skinned near Human character.

Star Trek (DC)[]

(Her DC comic book appearances such as those in the 'Who Killed Captain Kirk?' story arc)

Star Trek vs Transformers[]

(this IDW four issue comic series was inspired by the idea of a Star Trek: The Animated Series cross over with the 1980s Transformer's cartoon. The continuity established in these four issues are similar to TAS but different, for example, rather than Sulu and Uhura being on the away mission during the episode 'Slaver Weapon' it was Arex and M'Ress)
