Mito Umeta (27 March 1863 - 31 May 1975) was a Japanese supercentenarian and the oldest living person in the world for more than 1.5 years.

Umeta was born in 1863. With the death of Elizabeth Watkins on October 31, 1973, she became the oldest person in the world. She died about 19 months later at the age of 112. At that time, she was the fifth oldest person ever after Delina Filkins, Mary Kelly, Betsy Baker, and Josefa Salas. Niwa Kawamoto succeeded her as the oldest person.
