Berlin, Germany
Nazi Germany is a term used to distinguish Germany under the National Socialist German Worker's Party from modern Germany and previous incarnations, such as the German Empire. Nazi Germany refers to Germany during the National Socialist Era of it's history which can seen as beginning with Hitler's appointment as Chancellor of the Weimar Republic in January of 1933 and ending with the defeat of Germany during World War II in the year 1945. Alternative points in which this period may be stated by historians to have started is March of 1933 when the Enabling Act was past or November of 1933 when NSDAP became the sole legal party in Germany. The actual state went by two official names; Deutsches Reich ("German Rule") from 1933 to 1943 and Großdeutsches Reich ("Great German Rule") from 1943 to 1945 but is most often referred to as 'the Third Reich' in popular media. The only criticism of the terms use comes in that to further distance Nazi Germany from modern Germany those living in the Nazi Germany of this term are called 'Nazis', regardless of party loyalty thus giving the impression that everyone in the country is a Nazi.
