Pathfinder Ryder is the protagonist of Bioware's Mass Effect: Andromeda . Pathfinder is one of the Ryder twins (male or female), a child of Alec Ryder who along side his wife Ellen created SAM, an Artificial Intelligence despite interstellar laws against such being produced. The twins along with their father board the Arkship Hyperion destined to reach the Andromeda Galaxy in 2785. Pathfinder Ryder is the twin who gets out of stasis first (which ever one the player chooses to play as).

Prior to events in Mass Effect: Andromeda the Ryder twins traveled to London and got to see Big Ben. [1] Their mother passed away from illness many years latter.
Initiative[]
When their father enrolled in the Initiative to be a Pathfinder the Ryder twins followed along being the last of thier family. After 600 years of stasis Pathfinder Ryder awakens shortly before the Arkship Hyperion hits an interstellar anomoly which results in thier twin's pod suffering damage and the other Ryder twin being put into an induced coma by medical personel. They accompany thier father to investigate 'Habitate 7'; a world that was to serve as Humanity's homeworld in Andromeda. On that mission their father dies saving them but not before passing the position of Pathfinder to them.
