The Pigman is a pig in humanoid form. The skin for pigmen use to be found in the game files, but since version 1.6 of Minecraft the skin is not found. A skin pack however was released on the X-Box allowing players to use the skin. No coding exists to spawn them into the game. Some Twitter posts by Notch indicate that the Pigmen where considered as possible villagers [1], however this has not come to be. It can be assumed the pigman would have been a neutral, or passive mob where they used in such a fashion. After the initial villager release, another updated added the Zombie Pigmen, who inhabit the Nether hoarding gold, and maning elaborate fortifications. Mods, and Resource Packs, exist that allow players to replace the current villager model with a variant, often clothed, version of the Pigman skin. Other mods allow the Pigmen to enter as a separate entity that one may gain as a servant who, based on what the player equips the Pigman with, may either mine, or fight, for you.
