Poni is a minor character in the 2014 junior novel "Jedi Academy: Return of the Padawan". Poni appears in the fifth chapter, 'Field Trip to the Galactic Senate' in which protagonist Roan Novachez and classmates witness a session of the Galactic Senate. While the senate conversated on a medical aid bill a senator named Blagotine derailed the conversation by speaking about the need for new repulsor lift seating in the senate. An interruption met with disdain and delight with Senator Poni being of the latter, very eager for new seating. Through his translator the senator expressed his need for a seat suitable for his girth.
Poni and the entire novel are not considered part of the current canon established by Disney. The character was illustrated by Jeffery Brown, the novel's author.
