An S19 Astromech Droid serving as an astrogation buffer.

The S19 astromech droid was introduced into the Star Wars franchise by Wizards of the Coast through the 2009 publication Scavenger's Guide to Droids; a resource book for it's Star Wars Roleplaying Game Saga Edition Core Ruleset. The droid's physical appearance was designed by Chris Trevas who illustrated the droid.

Lore[]

In the Star Wars Roleplaying Game setting of Wizards of the Coast the S19 astromech droid was created by LesTech in order to enter the astromech market following the success of Industrial Automation's R2 series. [1] The S19 was built with a chassis that many compared to the EG-6 power droid which made it boxy and bulky. Due to it's unicycle like locomotion the S19 was prone to tipping over while making quick maneuvers. Despite being a functional astromech the article that introduces the S19 focused chiefly on after market modifications as an asset to scavengers. The first of these suggestions involved installing a gravity well to replace certain internal components so that the droid could draw projectiles towards it and away from it's owner. The second was to make it a mobile shield generator though similar means and the third was to replace the wheel based locomotion with a repulsor lift. [1]

Equipment[]

As with most droids in the Star Wars setting the LesTech S19 astromech droid was manufactured with built in tools and other assets for it's intended task. These include a clawed appendage, six tool appendages, a holorecorder, internal comlink, and a five jump astrogation buffer. S19 units stand at one meter in height and can be purchased for 8620 credits. [1] Their main drawback aside from the prospect of tipping over is that due to the shape of their chassis an S19 is incompatible with the standard astromech droid socket included in a good number of starfighters throughout the galaxy.
