Satan's Robot was an instrument of Doctor Satan's will in the 1940 republic film serial 'Mysterious Doctor Satan'. The robot would latter appear in episodes of Star Trek: Voyager as part of Lt. Tom Paris's 'The Adventures of Captain Proton' holodeck program he created to explore early 20th century science fiction as the lead character in an amalgamated serial like episodic roleplay experience. The robot is no longer a remote controlled instrument but a being capable of thought and speech. It was to feature prominently in the final chapter of Tom Paris's serial which is titled "Satan's Robot Conquers the World" but appears only as one of Doctor Chaotiac's henchies in what parts of the adventure are shown.

Mysterious Doctor Satan (1940)[]

Satan's Robot is first shown in Chapter 1 with the doctor stating that he'll need Professor Scott's remote control technology to activate the machine. A technology he intends to steal from Professor Scott. By Chapter 5 Satan's Robot is active and used to hold The Copperhead as a demonstration of his machine's power. Professor Scott deactivates Satan's Robot via the control panel on the machine allowing The Copperhead to escape. Latter the machine, it's remote control board damaged, goes out of control toppling acid on it's self and towards The Copperhead only for the Copperhead to roll out of the way during Chapter 8 'Highway of Death'. During the final chapter Doctor Satan's thugs, mistaking their master for The Copperhead (as Bob Wayne put the mask of The Copperhead on the Doctor) put Doctor Satan in the robot's grip and toss him off a balcony only for the robot to plummet down with him.

Star Trek: Voyager[]

Satan's Robot, now with a voice module and capacity to function on it's own without remote control input is working in service to Doctor Chaotica in Tom Paris's holodeck program. Presumably the robot was stolen from Earth by Doctor Chaotica to be used as a weapon to obtain the planet's surrender to his rule. During one of the chapters of Tom Paris's holodeck program the robot was to hold Constance Goodheart, Captain Proton's love interest, in it's grip demanding her surrender. During one session of the roleplay Tom Paris attempted to have Seven of Nine take on the role of Constance Goodheart but she did not embrace her role and foiled the robot's attempts to capture her. Some time into their trek home the Voyager's holodeck was mistaken for another dimension by photonic beings of another reality. When Doctor Chaotica killed the aliens sent to investigate the strange world it ignited a war between the program and that reality. The Robot was damaged during that conflict and when repaired by Tom Paris aided him in locating the portals from which the aliens where invading. It accompanied Tom aboard Captain Proton's ship and foiled by it's own folly (threatening one of the aliens) Tom's attempts at negotiation. Eventually he repaired the robot after taking on Captain Proton's persona, and the robot aided Proton. Though due to the robot's previous mishap Tom declared his intention to delete it from the program, which would mean having to re-write the series he had created though the robot did not identify the statement as a threat and continued to aid in defending the world against the 'invaders from the fifth dimension'. It's possible such a shift in loyalty was planned in Tom Paris's series as the final chapter "Satan's Robot Conquers the World" can be seen as a nod to "Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe".
