Stanley "Tookie" Williams III (29 December 1953 - 13 December 2005), was one of the early leaders in the West Side Crips, a street gang which was founded in 1969. He authored several books, including anti-violence literature and children's books while incarcerated. Williams was executed by lethal injection in 2005.
