Growing up creepie the case of the mysterious moth title card

The Case of the Mysterious Moth is the second segment of the third episode of the animated TV show 'Growing Up Creepie'. It's proceeded by the segment 'Bug It On' with both airing on the twenty-third of September in the year 2006. In this short subject Creepie is invited to a sleep over and seemingly haunted by a ghost moth.

Plot[]

The film opens up in Creepie's bedroom with her packing for a sleep over party while her brother's Polly and Gnat make fun of the concept. Polly asks how anyone can have fun at a party where everyone is sleeping to which Creepie replies that she'll find out. She mentions that Chris-Alice said they would have pizza and the brothers change their disposition by asking to go with Creepie having to explain that she's pretty sure brothers aren't allowed at sleep overs. Their disappointment lightens her mood given how they had previously been acting and she leaves for her friend's house. Watching her go Matt and Polly decide to sneak along and come uninvited.

At Chris-Alice's house Chris-Alice begins writing down the party's activities on a planner, apparently haven't not actually planned for anything beyond having a sleep over. As she writes and announces the activities Carla and Melanie (who along with the Creepie are the only guests) suggests they tell ghost stories. Chris-Alice laughs dismissively, asking how one's suppose to tell a story about something that isn't real. The two girls then begin to talk on their phones and ignore her until it irritates her enough to demand their attention.

The party gets under way with nail painting, hair styling, and viewing teen magazines while Creepie remains a bit of an outliner in her interests. It's not until the pillow fight that the entire group manages to share in the fun. Shortly after the Pizza arrives Matt and Polly show up but find it difficult to get in side the house as the girls close the windows due to a rain storm. Chris-Alice suggests they play a dance game but Carla and Melanie are still interested in doing something ghost related and thus suggest 'Ghost Finder'. Creepie states that she's always wanted to meet a ghost. The two set up the board and a mood while Chris-Alice decides to roll along since her three guests are interested in doing it. She just states that she'll do so only if they agree to understand that if they see any ghosts because of it- that it's just in their head and not actually ghosts because those don't exist.

They start to play but Chris-Alice gets scared on the second turn and drops out to hide in her sleeping bag. Carla and Meleanie are excited for Creepie's turn, hoping for something really exciting to happen. After doing a summoning chant for a Ghost Moth and nothing happening one of the two gets up set at the other, the blonde headed Melanie for even having brought the game. To which Melanie reminds her that it wasn't her idea to bring it.

Really wanting to get at the pizza Gnat and Polly use the opportunity to scare the girls hoping they'll run outside thus giving them an opening to enter. As the girls flee Chris-Alice returns to grab Creepie who hadn't ran but rather been mesmerized by the supposed shadow of a ghost moth. Gnat and Polly's plan works but once inside an actual moth appears and the sight spooks them into fleeing the house. Creepie had already been on her way back when the two ran away and she got to meet the moth. She learned that he use to live at her house, long before she was there and she invites him to come over to visit it some time. The closing visuals indicate that the moth really was a ghost.

The educational segment at the end of this short talks about how most people think moths are all white winged but a lot of them actually have colorful patterns to help them blend in as protection against predation.
