The Mistress is a minor character in 'The Brave Little Toaster: A Bedtime Story for Small Appliances '. She's first mentioned when the main characters (Hoover, Toaster, Radio, Lamp, and Blanket) reach The Master's apartment in the city. They are welcomed inside by the appliances of the Master's apartment and each gets to meet their city counterpart (them having come from a summer cottage) - that is except Blanket. When Blanket hints around at his curiosity he's informed, once the local appliances get what he's hinting at, that the Mistress gets too hot under an electric blanket. The Master would love to have one but she doesn't want one. This causes the blanket a level of distress. Turns out the reason the Master hasn't been to the summer cottage in three years is because of the Mistress- she's prone to hayfever and the local vaporator is tasked with helping her. She's not mentioned again until the epilogue of the novel. The main applainces, thanks to a Swap Show on the local radio, get themselves exchanged for some kittens - and find a new owner in an old ballerina. When the Master and Mistress return from their vacation at the beach they find the kittens in the appartment which causes some issue as the Mistress is alergic to cats- but the kittens where so adorable the Master and Mistress decided to keep them- with the Mistress simply taking extra anti-histamines.
