Detailed Plot[]

The film opens up with the protagonist, Russel Charlisle, confronting a boy who has stolen marbles from his neighbors by informing him that such action is unjust. Russel Charlisle is heading to the home of his friend, Dr. Norris Anderson, to discuss issues Dr. Anderson has with Russel's newest transcript 'The Changing Times', which is to be published into a book. Dr. Anderson informs Russel that his issue lies in that 'The Changing Times' while promoting a moral life based on the commandments it says little about Christ. Russel's standpoint is that approaching evangelicalism directly with Christ hinders conversion and that one has to ease someone into Christ by introducing them to a moral life. Dr. Anderson feels that such generates a society that distances it's self from Christ and states that he has seen such. He guides Russel to the barn where a time machine Anderson's father built is. He sends Russel into the 21st century in order to make his point, and informs him the mechanics of returning to 1890.

There Russel finds that most marriages end in divorce (rather then 5% as in 1890), films utter blasphemy and profanity openly, and teenagers show little respect for their parents and talk openly of deceiving them. Everything is new and shocking to Russel but he finds some glimmer of hope when he finds a church. However he finds that most church goers are attending for the community, people seeking to join are mostly interested in extra activities beyond sermons which come off as boring to them. Some in the congregation begin to look upon him strangely as he tries to convince a laundromat worker to attend church- the church Russel has found being one that has opted for an indirect approach as Russel himself had written support of back in 1890. With his time in the 21st century growing short Russel bids farewell to the man who introduced him to the church of the 21st century and departs slightly disappointed that the choir is singing amazing grace. Two church goers, some newer additions who are still new to Christ follow him and confront him. The sky grows dark as the time machine begins to recall Russel, Russel tells them what Russel believes is happening- that the end has come before he is taken back to his own time in an instant. The two men, witnessing him vanish, believe that they have been left behind and slump over as dread of the tribulation fills them.

Back in 1890 Russel tells Anderson all that he has seen in the 21st century, and his fears that such is the end of days. He states that he is changing the name of his book to 'Time Changer' and that his experiences have altered his perception. He goes back to the boy he lectured before and gives him a bag of marbles Russel has purchased for him. Anderson however, while having gone to the future before- had not considered the prospect of the 21st century being the end of days. Concerned he tries to send the bible into the future starting with 2090. It fails to travel. He tries 2080, then 2070, 2060. As the credit roles he tries two more times... 2050, and 2040. Suggesting either that mankind cannot know when the end of times will happen, or that it will happen in the early 21st century.
