Trajan (Latin: Imperator Caesar Nerva Traianus Divi Nervae filius Augustus; Born September 18, 53 - August 8, 117 AD) was the 13th Emperor of the Roman Empire. He is known as the second of the Five Good Emperors who presided over an era of peace and prosperity in the Mediterranean as he is known for his social welfare policies and public building programs. Upon his death the Senate deified him; that is they declared he ascended to godhood.
