She was born September 15, 1898 in rural Grove City, Illinois, the daughter of Ruben and Letha Poffenbarger Smith. In 1916 she graduated from Taylorville High School and also attended Eastern Illinois University. She taught in the country schools until her marriage to Merville M Curvey on September 8, 1927 at the Methodist Parsonage in Taylorville. She was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Palmer. She was a very faithful worker at Advent Christian Church and taught the same Sunday School that her mother had taught for over 40 years.
She is survived by her daughter: V Carolyn (husband Dean) Vorhees of Taylorvile, grandchildren: Edwin (wife Linda) Vorhees of Morrisonville, Patricia (husband Tony) Lush of Bakersfield, CA, great grandchildren: Lela Ferrill, Jeffrey, Andrew and Abigail Vorhees, Travis, Jarrod and Josh Lush and 5 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother: Charles E Smith.
